Ambassador Michael Armacost is one of the most distinguished ambassadors of his generation. He has a wide-ranging background in Asia, both as a scholar and a government official. He will speak to us about the situation in Korea and its potential effects on the region and on American foreign policy.
Ambassador Armacost is the recipient of the President’s Distinguished Service Award, the Defense Department’s Distinguished Civilian Service Award, and the Secretary of State’s Distinguished Service Award. He is a member of the boards of Carleton College, the Asia Foundation, the National Committee on US-China Relations, and the American Academy of Diplomacy. He is also on the boards of directors of AFLAC, Applied Materials, Cargill and USEC, Inc; and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Pacific Council on International Policy. |
