Please join us in welcoming General Bryan “Doug” Brown, Commander for the United States Special Operations Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Florida since September 2003. As Commander, he is responsible for all special operations forces of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps. Hear and question him on the operations and engagements of the various elements of his command.

• Responsibilities of the United States Special Operations Command include:
• Readiness of assigned forces and monitoring the readiness of overseas Special Operations Forces (SOF)
• Developing joint SOF tactics, techniques, and procedures
• Conducting specialized courses of instruction
• Training assigned forces
• Executing its own program and budget

General Brown has a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Cameron University and a Master’s Degree in Business from Webster University. His military education includes the Field Artillery Officer Advance Course, U.S. Army Commander and General Staff College, the Army War College. General Brown is a graduate of the Harvard Executive Education Program’s National and International Security Managers Course.

His awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal with “V” Device, joint Service Commendation medal, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. He also wears the Special Forces Tab, Master Army Aviator Badge, Military Free Fall Parachutist Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.
