Sir Eldon and Lady Betty then flew to
England just in time for the (bad news)

Orange County people joined them for Sir
Eldon's birthday party and a performance
of Handels messiah in the cathedral where
prince Charles and Camilla dedicated a
fine new tower. The summer months were
a blur of garden parties (by Betty),speeches
(by Sir Eldon), horseshows, fireworks
in the Abbey gardens and two weeks relief
from their grandchildren on the Grand
Canal in Venice and a trip to one of Europe's
off the beaten track little capitals,
Llubjiana in Slovenia (strongly recommended).
They returned to Orange County and New
York to see friends at the UN and another
musical comedy, Chicago. This year Sir
Eldon has given talks on the EU and the
Middle East in six or seven cities in
the southern states, and is working on
a KOCE video on his (mis)spent life &
